Dr. Kara Cox

Dr. Cox is a fellowship-trained sports medicine physician who joined the new AOA Immediate Care clinic in August 2023.

Dr. Cox was born and raised in Wichita and graduated from Friends University where she played soccer. She earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas and completed her family medicine residency followed by her sports medicine fellowship at the University of Kansas - Via Christi.

Her career has included several years of teaching musculoskeletal medicine to local students, residents and fellows. She has experience in caring for professional, collegiate, high school, and recreational athletes as well as the workforce. She has 10 + years of urgent care experience and specializes in early injury evaluation and nonsurgical approaches to healing. She enjoys helping her patient's get back to living their best lives.

Outside of her professional activities, Dr. Cox enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, running, cycling, and most importantly, spending time with her husband and their fur-babies.
